Thoutkant thein temple - Mrauk Oo
Thoutkant thein temple, another massive tunnelled temple structure in Mrauk Oo, built in 1571 AD. The temple was said to be built to re-unite the region. There are two tunnels surrounding the inner chamber. In the tunnels there are images of governers, land lords, officials and their spouses curved in the walls. It is a good place to study the custumes and ornaments used in the ancient Rakhine Kingdom.

Mrauk Oo ( also called Myohaung ) is the former Rakhine Kings' sitting place ( 15-16th century ) with ruins of the old palace walls and many ancient temples. Some of the surrounding areas still have a healthy amount of forests but that need attention urgently to protect the nature from diminishing away.
